Obama Link Round Up
Jun. 22nd, 2008 04:25 pmSome interesting, if a little irritating, reads:
Barack Obama: Black or Biracial? BlackAndBrown News (via Huffington Post)
-- Why are people still having this conversation? Obama calls himself a black man, end of story.
Son of Africa or Ugly American? (International Herald Tribune)
-- The male parental unit lived and worked in Ghana, where this article reports from, and can attest to the country's love for Obama. However, that may change once Ghanaians find their values do not necessarily align in matters such as abortion
For blacks in France, Obama's rise is reason to rejoice, and to hope (International Herald Tribune)
-- In France, everyone is French regardless of ethnicity. In an ideal world this would mean there is no racism. In practice however, it only means it's much harder to track covert discrimination.
Blacks In Hollywood's White House (LA Times)
-- Did Dennis Haysbert's role as 24's President help ease the way to acceptance of a black president?
US Elections Q&A: Obama's rejection of public financing for his campaign (The Guardian)
Recent interview with Michelle Obama (The Guardian)
Obama and Clinton to campaign together - Associated Press (via MSNBC)
Something I keep seeing in reader comments from news sites: Obama is 'well-spoken'. *smacks forehead* I can understand why this is a big deal after 8 years of Bushisms, but no one says the same of McCain or Hillary. Seriously, enough of using the words 'well-spoken' to describe Obama. We all know what you really mean >:(
