Still at it
Jul. 14th, 2007 02:37 pmHmm. Buy new laptop now or wait until AFTER the Comicon? Blast, it looks like the latter.
I think I've outgrown Harry Potter. I found the film boring. And I didn't even want to watch it in the first place. Could it be burn out?
Started reading after 4th book came out, which seems so long ago. Instead of queuing on Friday night, I'll pick up my copy after lunch the next day. As for predictions, I can't be bothered. Rowlin has no expectations from me. Well, unless she goes Sopranos on us.
Despite myself, I was surprised to hear so many people leaving the cinema saying the film was the best ever. Shows how out of touch I am. My friend I went with said the lack of action till the end was prolly the reason. Could be. The V-Lord vs Greystache fight was awesome enough to erase some of the malaise. Hm. And I did my fangirl squee whenever the Malfoys came on. But is it me, or was Rickman a bit off as Snape this time around? Poor man seemed bored for lack of things to do.
Worse, I like Imelda Staunton too much to actually see her as the sinister Umbridge. It just didn't click with me. In year 7 I had a teacher exactly like Umbridge, and she even resembled a toad. Her favourite way to admonish her students was to denounce them as liars in class. And yes, I did join as a snitch for extra credit. For an extra five points on my test scores, I'd grass out those who copied notes or homework answers. She both repulsed and frightened me, but I never got that sense from Ms Staunton.
Ah well. At least the next film will have more Malfoy.
