The Mega Millions jackpot is now $252 million. ZOMG I know what I'm going to be doing this weekend: figuring out the best combination of numbers to snag that pot. Quick give me your favourite, luckiest numbers!

Today's been pretty slow. Woke up late, shuffled out to the backyard to shoot some hoops, stepped on rabbit poo instead. Filled out exactly 1 work application, and added 1 Basic programming class plus lab this semester. Modded my wii so I can now play homebrew games and DVD. And then went back to sleep. Ahh... a life without stress. It's kinda shit, actually.

Ugh, how did that happen? Crap, and I've been slacking off on the [livejournal.com profile] crack_van recs too. I know August is the silly season, but I didn't realise it applied to me, too. Or maybe just being unemployed makes you more susceptible to moments of being extremely lazy and/or silly.

Totally unrelated, [livejournal.com profile] ontd_political recently went nuts over the news of videotaped sex in an MRI machine for scientific experiment. Understandbly, the criticism is on what sort of scientific data such study could possibly bring forth. Personally, I think the reaction to the New Scientist video that has the footage is funny as hell. Choice quote: It looks like he's just ... impaling her organs. Like some violent ... murder of a dying animal. Haha, it's not that bad. Honest. Compared to watching a woman giving birth, this is mild discomfort. And really, what does one expect to happen during sex? This isn't yaoi manga, you know. There are no blurry spots or bright lights obscuring the act of copulation.

Footage starts at 1:38. A little unsettling, but certainly not squeamish material to me. The thing I'm most interested in is how the couple managed to have sex in the cramped quarters of the MRI. That's gotta be an awkward position. Anyways, this territory has already been covered by Mary Roach in her non-fiction book, Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex. In it the author does the same thing with her husband, and details the strangeness of having a researcher watch and provide instructions. Things we do for science, eh?
