Ganked from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] icarus_chained:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 56.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next seven sentences in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.

Mac said to Mark, "You told Ace nobody ever mistook you for a cop. How many people you think mistake us for killers?"

"Point taken," Mark said. "But you haven't been hanging around here for your health. You have some scheme in mind. I tell you what. I'll tell you ours, and then you tell us yours. Deal?"

Great setup :D Luckily for me, the closest book (Roget's Thesaurus not counting) was Donald E Westlake's The Road to Ruin. Westlake is a master at entertaining capers, and also wrote the highly recommended Parker crime novels under the pseudonym Richard Stark. By and by, Darwyn Cooke will be adapting the Parker novels into graphic works for IDW Publishing. Noir fans take notice!

The return of OSJ, baby! Officially I'm ill (which I am), and although it sounds counter intuitive, am chasing the blues away with the blues. There's nothing like listening to the great Bessie Smith to give you chills and feel so damn alive.
