Another lame week that started with a horrible meeting with the boss, a receipt in the mail where nearly 50% of my bonus went to taxes, my pictures from Nextfest became corrupted, and I find sleep is yet another vain dream. WHYYYYY?!
Good thing I could comfort myself with comics and telly.

Ahhh... Amanda Conner, I loves you! I didn't want to pick up anything from Black Canary/Green Arrow, but quickly changed my mind when I saw her name on the cover. The artwork is absolutely scrumptious and with great comedic timing (even if Judd Winnick did write it). Plus, we saw the return of Tommy Monaghan! For only 2 issues. Oh but how I missed him. I hope DC republishes the TPB of Hitman. (Hint: most of both issues are on

For the first time in what seems like eons, I tuned in to watch Saturday morning cartoons. Back in July I remember watching the trail for the new season of Legion of Superheroes and nearly having a heart attack at seeing a new character who reminded me of Superboy. The new episode introduced a new battle-hardened Superman X (a clone of the original) in the 41st century battling Imperiex and his army. Don't know much about LOSH but I really enjoyed the fast-paced and action-filled episode. Superman X, while not Kon, is still enough to keep me interested in the rest of the series. Watch a clip of the episode here.
The Batman was another story (clip here). Was a huge fan of the original Batman The Animated Series, and it's rather obvious any other subsequent Batman series would be compared to it. This time round, I don't like the Jackie Chan-esque art (remember Chan's animated series?) or any of the writing in the episodes I watched. Robin (an amalgamation of Dick, Jason, and Tim? Yes please!) was a great addition, but the show still lacked something. The new episode I watched was supposed to be the first of interactions with JLA members. First up, Superman. I did like the nod of how Superman discovers Batman's identity, but wow was the characterisation off. Superman not wanting to work with others? Superman being broody? Batman wanting to be friends? Here's the Batman I know and love:

See? Anyway, Robin calling Jimmy Olsen a fanboy was probably the best moment in that episode. Zing!
Anyway, I'm off to go to the library now to pick up a few more books to get ready for NaNoWriMo. It'll be the first time; maybe someone out there can offer tips?
