This is why I prefer the Kinsey Scale

Late to the party as always, as both
stupid_free and
metaquotes have shed light on the bisexuals-as-not-part-of-LGBT syndrome that's captivating drama on LJ. It started here at
lesbians, with a post by a user who wrote:
i just wanna say i think its really lame that i cant talk about how my hair had changed since i came out as a lesbian on this community because one person decided that it wasnt relevant. But all the little bisexual fuckpuppets can make idiotic posts about how they dont know anyone and how they have a crush on some other fuckpuppet.
Yes, it started with a bitchy post about not being able to post about hair. I've been reading the meta on
stupid_free to find out whether cool heads will prevail and see the OP as a temper tantrum -- previous to the OP, a vote was held as to whether posts about hair were allowed in the community and the nays won it. Back to the meta, featuring commentary by asexuals, a clueless mostly-straight who asks why there are bisexuals in a lesbian comm, angry bisexuals tired of being hated on, and someone calling bis on their straight privilege.
Just as I can't fathom people who do not see sexuality as fluid, there are those who strictly see it in black and white. Doesn't mean we have to agree. And dialogue, however cantankerous and sometimes abusive it may be, is better than hating in silence. But Christ, we're in the same boat! You'd think that discrimination is discrimination, but apparently we have to be divided into neat little boxes that proclaim who has have it harder than whom.
Seriously, we can do better than this.

THIS. I don't care who someone is fucking, as long as it's another consenting human adult, and I don't care what gender they want to identify as -- we're all getting smacked down by the same bullshit bat! An ally is an ally!

TRUE. And as someone else pointed out, it's often the transgendered people who get the brunt of these phobic attacks in the community. Often by people who know and have experienced such irrational hatred. That makes me really sad :(
