The hell happened to LJ? Couldn't get on for love nor money for hours.

Much of tonight's debate I heard on the radio, which meant I wasn't tempted to tune out what each candidate was saying. Unfortunately that meant I had to listen to Palin's irriating voice, thus setting the tone for my viewing the rest of the broadcast. By the time I arrived home and switched on for the telecast, I was more and more disappointed Palin hadn't disintegrated into a puddle of incoherent talking points. A person can dream, right?

Highpoint: Biden touched a chord with me early in the debate when he called the conflict in Bosnia 'genocide'. Even the UN termed the violence against Muslim Bosnians (or Bosniaks, which Jezebel puzzled over) 'ethnic cleansing'. He also called the ongoing Darfur strife as genocide, another situation where ethnic cleansing is the euphemism used. This is clearly a man who understands what has/had happened in these countries aren't just war crimes -- they're crimes against humanity.

Lowpoint: Hearing Biden and Palin agree they are against gay marriage. I mean, I knew the Dems were hell-bent on making sure gay marriage wouldn't be the issue that made or break the race, but shit :(

All in all, Palin held up quite well, parrying questions and jabbing at the other party like a seasoned politico. Biden did performed excellently, projecting his expertise with foreign policy, sidestepping Palin entirely while being very pleasant and aiming squarely at McCain. The conclusion of the debate: it ain't over. Not by a long shot.
