Breaking the Silence: On Living Pro-Lifers' Choice for Women (via Shakesville) -- much of the discussion on adoption focuses on the adoptee and the adoptive parents, and it's as if the experience of the birth mother does not matter. The anonymous writer of this post gives voice to women who have been in similar circumstances, and reveals the never-ending loss and grief birth mothers carry. I highly recommend reading her words whether pro-choice or pro-life, because her experiences and her pain deserve to be heard.

Speaking as someone who's always wanted to adopt, it is absolutely heartbreaking to know that one day my joy could come out of someone's deep and lasting pain.
