CA Supreme Court upheld Prop 8, 6 to 1. Read the official document at the site here.

Go to Day of Decision for news of planned rallies and other activities to show your support for same-sex marriage. This is not the end, guys. Only the beginning.

I am strangely calm, though upset. Had the idea this would happen because not upholding Prop 8 due to the legality of the proposition process could set a dangerous precedent for the state. BUT DAMNIT, it still hurts.

If you can't to an event (and my commute to one of these things is going to be hellish) would you mind reposting the day of decision link? The actual page to find the city and state is here http://dayofdecision.wetpaint.com/

Very much so. During the past year I have met with so many couples whose marriages would have been affected had today's ruling denied the legality of their nuptials, and I refuse to believe the majority of Californians would be so spiteful as to truly desire the loss of their right to marry. This was a colossal failure on the part of so many, but we should definitely look to the future and work harder to convince everyone same-sex marriage benefits all and threatens no one.

The legal reasoning in that decision makes me vomit in my mouth a little. -- haven't read the whole thing yet, just skimmed it.

Me neither; I'm definitely going to download the pdf so I can try and read it at the protest I'm heading to tonight. I'm especially interested in what the lone dissenter (only judge picked by a Democrat, natch) has to say in his opinion.
