Comics, or the lack of their mention here

Recently, buying comics seems like a chore. As noted before in the LJ, most of the time I don't get around to actually reading the issues I buy until days later. It would be a great shame if my interest tails off entirely, even as it decreases my monthly spending. The question though, is why? Why would it be terrible for instance, if I were to wake up the next day and not care who plays Hal Jordan in the live-action Green Lantern movie?
There's no answer now, but the time will come when I can articulate a response, and it'll be over.
I'm left a little relieved the craptacular conclusion of Battle for the Cowl has not turned me against reading mainstream superhero comics. Imagine that.

Speaking of the GL movie, recent rumours suggest Bradley Cooper (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0177896/) as Hal. Nope, short on charisma (and height!). I hope it's an unknown, though.

Date: 2009-05-21 04:37 pm (UTC)I've been wondering something similar lately, what if one day I couldn't care less when Nolan's Batman 3 is scheduled for release or if Catwoman be in it? What would change? For one, I wouldn't be lining up for midnight showings! ;) Also, I didn't know they're planning a live-action Green Lantern movie?! I know they were making a direct-to-DVD animated one, but that's about it.

One of the great joys of Wednesday is buying the Johnny DC titles: The Adventures of Supergirl, Tiny Titans, Superfriends, Billy Batson -- these are wonderful, kid-friendly titles that appeals to adults too. I can't think of anything better as an introduction to the DC universe.
Haha, yeah, GL movie rumours came at the heels of the animated one. I don't think I'd like one made, unless it was Guy Gardner and the movie was based on the JLI. Yay for Booster and Beetle!

Date: 2009-05-22 03:57 pm (UTC)I haven't bought anything in months, but I kinda like the idea of getting those titles for them. My son and I used to go to the dollar bins and if he liked a cover (it was usually Batman or Superman) I made sure it was safe for them to look through. Simply picking up Tiny Titans might be easier! ;)
DC makes me nervous with their movie choices. Just look at CINO. I still want to know who greenlit that!

Date: 2009-05-22 07:25 pm (UTC)Aside from that issue of BOTC: Underground which I didn't have to pay for, and was complete gubbins, I haven't read any new stuff at all.
I'm keeping half an eye on all the goings-on but it's all a bit meh.
